The Most Tolerable Of Popular And Unpopular Country/Folk-Rock (It’s Ok In Moderation As Long As No One Labels It “Civil-War-Electric-Revival” While Completely Ripping Off Iced Earth)

Radio-Friendly/Independent (Videos Just For Now)

1. Joe Nichols “Brokenheartsville”-

Use This Link To Find Your Closest “Brokenheartsville”. Your best bet is probably a tank top, some spiked hair, and a visit to a bar somewhere in Indiana: a contemporary wasteland that rivals the middle-ground between F. Scott Fitzgeralds East Egg and West Egg but sadly a tangible reality (Peyton Manning And John Mellencamp excluded).

Brokenheartsville= Gary, Indiana. I mean seriously… why do you think Michael Jackson went nuts? I’m sure there are a ton of bars, hardworking people, and regional laws inhibiting the consumption of high alcohol content 50 oz beers due to the dire situation of this area. Your serotonin levels plummet when you drive through this town.

Lyrics:

He wore that cowboy hat to cover up his horns.
Sweet-talkin’ forked tongue half a temptin’ charm.
Before I turned around, that girl was gone.
All I can say is, “Bartender, pour me somethin’ strong.”

Here’s to the past, they can kiss my glass.
I hop she’s happy with him.
Here’s to the girl, who wrecked my world,
That angel who did me in.
I think the devil drives a Coupe de Ville.
I watched ‘em drive away over the hill,
Not against her will, an’ i’ve got time to kill,
Down in Brokenheartsville.

It was long on chrom, sittin’ in the lot.
An’ fire engine red, that thing was hot.
He revved it up, she waved goodbye.
Well, love’s gone to hell and so have I.

Here’s to the past, they can kiss my glass.
I hope she’s happy with him.
Here’s to the girl, who wrecked my world,
That angel who did me in.
I think the devil drives a Coupe de Ville.
I watched ‘em drive away over the hill,
Not against her will, an’ i’ve got time to kill,
Down in Brokenheartsville.

2. “Another Traveling Song” (Bright Eyes)

Source YouTube User: http://youtube.com/watch?v=35xHuYMTeEw

Lyrics:

Well I’m changing all my strings

I’m gonna write another travelin’ song

about all the billion highways
and the cities at the break of dawn
I guess the best that I can do now
is to pretend that I’ve done nothing wrong
and to dream about a train
that’s gonna take me back where I belong

Well now the ocean speaks and spits
and I can hear it from the interstate
and I’m screamin’ at my brother on a cellphone
he is far away
And I’m saying nothing in the past or future
ever will feel like today
until we’re parking in an alley
just hoping that our shit is safe

So I go back and forth forever
All my thoughts they come in pairs
Oh I will, I won’t, I doubt, I don’t,
I’m not surprised but I never feel quite prepared

Now I’m hunched over a typewriter
I guess you call that paintin’ in a cave
And there’s a word I can’t remember
and a feeling I cannot escape
And now my ashtray’s overflowing
I’m still staring at a clean white page
Oh and morning’s at my window
she is sending me to bed again

Well I dream the dark on the horizon
I dream the desert where the dead lay down
I dream a prostituted child touching an old man in a fast food crown
Oh yeah, I dreamt this ship was sinkin’ there was people screaming all around
And I awoke to my alarm clock it was a pop song it was playin’ loud

So I will find my fears and face them
or I will cower like a dog
I will kick and scream or kneel and plead
I’ll fight like hell to hide that I’ve given up

3. Toby Keith “Should Have Been Cowboy” (Haircut Is lame like his over the top patriotism)-

Lyrics:

I bet you’ve never heard ole Marshall Dillion say
Miss Kitty have you ever thought of running away
Settling down will you marry me
If I asked you twice and begged you pretty please
She’d of said Yes in a New York minute
They never tied the knot
His heart wasn’t in it
He stole a kiss as he road away
He never hung his hat up at Kitty’s place

I should’ve been a Cowboy
I should’ve learned to rope and ride
Wearing my six-shooter riding my pony on a cattle drive
Stealing the young girl’s hearts
Just like Gene and Roy
Singing those campfire songs
I should’ve been a cowboy

I might of had a side kick with a funny name
Running wild through the hills chasing Jesse James
Ending up on the brink of danger
Riding shotgun for the Texas Rangers
Go west young man, haven’t you been told
California’s full of whisky, women and gold
Sleeping out all night beneath the desert stars
Dream in my eye and a prayer in my heart

I should’ve been a Cowboy
I should’ve learned to rope and ride
Wearing my six-shooter riding my pony on a cattle drive
Stealing the young girl’s hearts
Just like Gene and Roy
Singing those campfire songs
I should’ve been a cowboy

I should’ve been a Cowboy
I should’be learned to rope and ride
Wearing my six-shooter riding my pony on a cattle drive
Stealing the young girl’s hearts
Just like Gene and Roy
Singing those campfire songs
I should’ve been a Cowboy [x4]

While it would take more than a New York minute for a East Coast liberal to have sex with that kind of mullet in these modern days of war skepticism and nihilistic buzzcuts, time out on the range and Wal-Mart everyday low-price sales always result in self-absorption, altruistic backwoods politics, and fancier songs. Here are some of the worst (I am very patriotic, ….

Lyrics:

American girls and American guys will always stand up and salute;
Will always recognize
When we see ol’ glory flying,
There’s a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our head.

My daddy served in the army,
Where he lost his right eye.
But he flew a flag out in our yard ’til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack.
A mighty sucker punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man we lit up your world like the Fourth of July.

Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly,
And there’s gonna be Hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell!
It’s gonna feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you…
Brought to you courtesy of the Red, White and Blue!

Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You’ll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
‘Cuz we’ll put a boot in your ass
It’s the American way.

Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly,
And there’s gonna be Hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell!
And it’ll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you…

Of the Red, White and Blue..

. Mike Mills (R.E.M., Interview And Solo) “Don’t Go Back To Rockville” ( Live On Regis and Kathy Lee)

Mike Mills Biography Source: http://www.rem-fan.com/

“Michael Edward Mills was born in Orange County, California on December 17th, 1958. He considered himself local, having moved to Georgia as a baby. He was drifting through music. His father an acclaimed tenor singer and his mother a singer, pianist and guitarist, musical ability was inbred. He studied the piano and in high school he joined the marching band, at first with sousaphone and then electric bass, an instrument at which he quickly excelled. His short hair, glasses and quiet disposition made him an immedieate target for Bill Berry: “When we were about 14 or 15 we hated each other,” admitted Berry. “He was everything I despised; great student, got along with the teachers, didn’t smoke cigarettes or pot….”

A truce was finally called when Berry’s part time band needed a bass player. Mills had switched from to playing sausaphone to electric bass guitare and so turned up at a session. He saw out the rest of his school years by playing in a number of bar bands. He rented an apartment in Macon with Bill Berry and went to work in the locals Sears Roebuck department store. He formed a three part band called the Frusrations with Bill Berry and Ian Copeland (brother of Stewart Copeland who later found fame as drummer for The Police). The tree spent their time attempting to convert Paragon’s reluctant staff to the joys of the Dammed, the Sex Pistols, and especially The Police.”

Lyrics:

Looking at your watch a third time waiting in the station for a bus
Going to a place that’s far, so far away and if that’s not enough
Going where nobody says hello, they don’t talk to anybody they don’t know
You’ll wind up in some factory that’s full time filth and nowhere left to go
Walk home to an empty house, sit around all by yourself
I know it might sound strange, but I believe
You’ll be coming back before too long

(chorus)
Don’t go back to Rockville, don’t go back to Rockville, don’t go back to Rockville
And waste another year

At night I drink myself to sleep and pretend
I don’t care if you’re not here with me
‘Cause it’s so much easier to handle
All my problems if I’m too far out to sea
But something better happen soon
Or it’s gonna be too late to bring you back

(repeat chorus)

It’s not as though I really need you
If you were here I’d only bleed you
But everybody else in town only wants to bring you down and
That’s not how it ought to be
I know it might sound strange, but I believe
You’ll be coming back before too long

(repeat chorus 2x)
